Two Temples: Love and Protection

Guruji described being guided to build not one temple at Devipuram, but two. Kamakhya, in the form of the Goddess's own creative center, and Sri Meru, described as Her protective, nourishing form. Two different temples for two different roles the Goddess plays.

What stands out to me is the distinction he draws between love and lust. He wrote about learning ancient practices, across many Goddess traditions, that emphasize love over manipulation. That is a meaningful line to draw, especially in a tradition that people sometimes assume is only about the second thing.

He also used the example of marriage. In his telling, older marriages were built on love and treated as a spiritual duty as much as a personal one. Modern marriage, he suggested, has often drifted into something closer to convenience or a transaction. His hope was for people to rediscover the comfort of real partnership, not just its legal shape.

I do not think you need to take every historical claim in that story literally to get the point. Love, in this tradition, is meant to be generous and controlled by care rather than by appetite. That is a useful thing to sit with, whatever your own relationship to marriage or partnership looks like.
